Volunteer Coordinator Reviews

What is it like working as a Volunteer Coordinator?

August 2015
It is a lot of paperwork.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Enjoy working with low income seniors and helping them feel a sense of contribution.
May 2015
Stressful but rewarding.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Pros: Dealing with people, supporting and encouraging - development.
Cons: No one recognises it - its poorly paid.
April 2015
Office work with occasional visits.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Pros: Helping people in their end of life care.
Cons: Sitting behind a desk.
April 2015
People skills a must.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Regardless of your skills with powerpoint, the ability to whip up a poster in a flash or creating the flashiest report, the ability to get bums on seats doing a range of (sometimes thankless) tasks is a must. Motivational speaking, a sunny but firm personality and the ability to keep grinning in the face of unbelievable stupidity will also help. Especially when ealing with senior management who don't understand WHY people volunteer.
December 2014
Volunteer Coordinator:
Pros: I enjoy fitting the puzzle pieces of personalities together, each volunteer comes with special gifts and qualities, each patient request has unique needs that must be met. My goal is to find the right match each time to have the most successful interaction between both patient and volunteer to achieve an ideal flow to meet the needs of both parties.
Cons: Fine tuning the education aspect, trying to prepare volunteers to react to a variety of situations that may come up during their volunteer time. Managing last minute cancellations and weeding out unreliable volunteers.
July 2014
Opportunity For Growth.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Pros: I like working with people and interns. I like that I am constantly challenged and am given to opportunity to grow in my skills. I like that I get to train new volunteers in something I am extremely passionate about and that I know my work goes towards a good cause. My team is very supportive of self-care and taking the comp time is encouraged.
Cons: It can be very stressful at times and I feel like my work/my teams work is not valued at the organization. I sometimes feel overwhelmed with all my tasks. I wish that I had more opportunities for feedback to learn more about my performance.
June 2014
It's Motivational Like No Other!
Volunteer Coordinator:
Pros: The freedom to do my job without much supervision. Using my creative writing talents, motivational skills, organizational challenges and the people.
Cons: I seem to work seven days a week and the pay!
