Senior Technical Writer Reviews

What is it like working as a Senior Technical Writer?

September 2022
Lots of grunt work. Plenty of opportunity for recognition, but that recognition won't come in the form of pay raises or promotions.
Senior Technical Writer in Atlanta:
Pros: The people, and the work culture we've adapted are fantastic and affirming. Very positive.
Cons: So much work for less recognition than should be available. They love to give out performance "awards" but don't really pay performance based raises. Sorry, I'd rather get a real pay raise as opposed to a recognition badge worth a relatively cheap watch.
September 2022
Less and Less Appreciated.
Senior Technical Writer in Orlando:
Pros: Flexible schedule, paid time off
Cons: Leadership change is less supportive, back-to-office mandates, too much work and not enough help, lack of meaningful and actionable communication from leadership
May 2022
Stable, but hard to progress.
Senior Technical Writer in Singapore:
Pros: Working here is very stable and gives an amazing atmosphere of trust, empowerment, and ownership. You are given leeway on how you accomplish your job.
Cons: Getting salary raises are hard and long.
April 2022
Senior Technical Writer Salary Review.
Senior Technical Writer in Kansas City:
Pros: The friends I've made working here. The relationships.
Cons: Feeling that I'm being taken advantage of and not respected by product groups.
March 2022
Rewarding.
Senior Technical Writer in Madison:
Pros: Northrop Grumman tries very hard to retain their workforce. For example, the contract I was working under was put on hold and I had to find a job. They carried me for several weeks until I found another position within the company.
Cons: There is a lot of "red tape" involved in terminating an employee. This can go on for years. But, it protects the company from law suits. And sometimes the employees turns around.
January 2022
Excellent city for work.
Senior Technical Writer in Pune:
Pros: Weather, like minded people, professional atmosphere.
Cons: Traffic, commuting, expensive to stay.
August 2021
Opportunities for learning but high expectations.
Senior Technical Writer in Bloomington:
Pros: I love my independence and ability to grow professionally.
Cons: I dislike the lack of communication between internal teams.
