Security Officer Reviews

What is it like working as a Security Officer?

November 2014
Security Officer:
Pros: The environment, people and off days.
Cons: No where to advance.
November 2014
Never A Dull Moment. Good Employers, Good Peers.
Security Officer:
Pros: It's a good job for retired military people. We use many of the same skills we learned in the military: teamwork, attention to details, following directions, taking pride in our work, and keeping the customer satisfied. Variety of venues.
Cons: It's not so much a physical job as it is mentally taxing. It can be boring but it can also be very exciting.

Cons: I find it to be very lonely at times.
October 2014

Cons: Slow advancement.
October 2014
Security Officer:
Pros: The things I do enjoy about my job are that I constantly see new people and the majority of the people I encounter on a daily basis are friendly and appreciative of what service is provided. I also enjoy that I have a good work/ life balance due to scheduling and that over time s readily available should it ever be needed or requested.
Cons: I often feel like the mgmt does not offer promotion potential for their employees or career advancement, and they treat their employees as "disposable" and are only running a warm body company forgetting all employees are State Licensed and did so on their own money. There have been times where mgmt will side with clients to keep a contract while tossing employees under the bus at a clients request, and discriminate against employees. Pay raises are non existent (even after 3 years) the mgmt offers reasons why they can not give you a increase that are contradictory. Some of those reasons include: We have to incorporate the AHCA (Obama Care) now, they also dismiss any reason to increase your pay even if you have not had a write up , yet promote those that have been written up multiple times. If they don't like you personally/ performance they will send you to the farthest post they have from your home to try and get you to quit instead of firing you so they don't have to pay unemployment.

Security Officer Review.
Security Officer:
Pros: What I like most about my job is you never know what kind of a day you will have or what could happen this makes it interesting.
Cons: The bad is the wages are very low and sometimes they send in other security officers that have very poor English and don't have much interest in the job and do not try. And sometimes it can be ver stressful.

Guardsmark is the Bottom of the Security business!
Security Officer:
Pros: I work indoors at night. That is all that is good about this job.
Cons: My training was a joke, DVD's I was allowed to take home along with a test with the answers, which is the same way Monthly training is conducted. Supervisors set bad examples by being late, not following policy, wearing uniforms improperly, playing favorites, fraternizing with client employees, and too many other improprieties to mention now. The Area manager while being qualified allows his Supervisors to engage in the above behavior. He promotes people not based on merit but on how easily they can be controlled or if they can keep the client happy; not by doing the job, but by, for example, doing work outside what is contracted. He does not follow Wage and Hour policies involving pay discrepancies and solving them in a timely manner and other violations. He provides NO Leadership Training for Supervisors. Guardsmark Officers have to pay for a $120 Training Course but receive no pay for it and will lose hours while taking it. These guys just plain Suck!
