It Is A Challenging And Valuable Role.
Security Manager:
Pros: To protect the business is critical to its operation and development. Physical security plays a vital role as the 1st layer where risk interferes the business operation. A major portion of the risk involved is through physical accessibility. Success of the robustness of physical security measures significantly reduces the vulnerability/exposure of assets to other kinds of risk. It is dynamic and ever changing, thus calling for alertness and proactive response action. It requires outwardly foresight, predictions and larger understanding. It is sensitive by nature as the role often requires direct contact with the adversary or the asset to be protected. It poses severe challenges as assets in any form translates to a tangible form.
Cons: When all is well, there is a risk of misconception by the business, that there does not exist the need for physical security measures.
