Restaurant Manager Reviews

What is it like working as a Restaurant Manager?

July 2017
You can do better.
Restaurant Manager in Indianapolis:
Pros: The few people I know that have stuck around in leadership positions are great mentors, good bosses, and fantastic people. It's really a shame that so many great people have left the company.
Cons: When they say 'flexible schedule' it means they'll flex you until you lose your elasticity and break. I worked at Qdoba for a total of over three years. I 'completed' the MIT program and went on to manage a 1.5M/year location. I never received a pay increase or a title promotion. With what they were paying me, they could have just kept me at the location where I had been previously where I wasn't unhappy. After my 'promotion' I was still making only 11.50/hour and expected to work 50 to 65 hours a week, sometimes with only one other person on my shift. The expectations are too high and compensation is too low. I'm willing to work hours like that, but having to balance managing the business (P&L, scheduling, ordering, inventory, recap, team development, training, hiring, disciplinary, etc.) and doing the work of two to three other employees on top of my duties as the acting GM is too much to ask of someone making four dollars an hour over minimum wage.

Memphis "Finest" Diners.
Restaurant Manager in Memphis:
Pros: The variety of restaurant options in the city. So many hidden gems.
Cons: The expectations of guest. We understand you're are spending your hard earned cash but, the unnecessary attitude that fines along with it is straight up horrible.

March 2017
If I only knew.
Restaurant Manager in Saint John:
Get to know owners if it's a mom and pop restaurant before you take on a title and don't get paid correctly.
March 2017
Get it. In Writing.
Restaurant Manager in Joliet:
Before taking a job on salary be sure you know what your job responsibilities are, number of hours expected a week from you, and are there bonuses and salary increases how often.
