It's not easy to be a nurse.
Registered Nurse (RN):
Follow your passion. It's nice to meet strangers while taking care of them.

Registered Nurse (RN):
When working outside the hospital setting, be sure you are qualified to handle emergencies ALONE.
I would absolutely NOT Recommend this type of job for a new grad. You must be confident in your abilities, stellar IV skills & ability to manage serious medical emergencies a MUST.

Nursing is not about the money.
Registered Nurse (RN):
Nursing is a profession, not a job. It's not something you just decide to do one day. It's a calling. If you are just going into nursing for the money, you are going to be very disappointed. It is hard work- physically, mentally, emotionally. Most nurses work in acute care (hospital) settings at first and it is draining 12 hour shifts (that usually last 13 hours). It is very rewarding and humbling, but if your heart isn't in it you will not last long. I can't imagine doing anything else and there are many areas to work (many in the hospital setting {card, ICU, Med/surg, Surgery, ER, etc} and clinics, hospice, home health, even IT).
