Instructional Designer (Training & Development) Reviews

What is it like working as an Instructional Designer (Training & Development)?

August 2015
Creative flexibility with a purpose.
Instructional Designer (Training & Development):
Pros: It's never boring.
Cons: It's never finished. All development is subject to changes in the operations.
December 2014
Corporate collaboration and group comradery.
Instructional Designer (Training & Development):
Pros: Excellent team work, and projects surround the type of training provided for adult learning. Working timeframes/schedules to complete the project easy to reach. Great growth and development potential(levels of advancement within leadership roles). (Supervisor and staff) Questions easy to ask, and feedback easy to obtain.
Cons: Slow periods at times to receive approval of next project. Targeting the topic of the thesis of the project. Several group opinions, mean more than one type of project or sub-projects.
July 2014
The Good And The Stress.
Instructional Designer (Training & Development):
Pros: I have relative autonomy in my role but they are starting to take that away. I do have pretty new and up-to-date tools to work with.
Cons: There are 60 people that I am responsible for total training for. We also are a call center so I am continually asked why certain entire team trainings are not done but then told to cancel all of my scheduled trainings because we are too busy. Everyone is also continuously concerned about things that don't really help anyone, like getting to classes that don't apply to their job or throw a fit about not getting to go to a course that will not actually help them progress in their career. I am also the manager for new employees during their first three months and definitely do not get the pay or perks of the managers here and we essentially have a constant stream of new employees.
