Chemical Engineer Reviews

What is it like working as a Chemical Engineer?

November 2014
Very good work flexibility and low stress environment.
Chemical Engineer:
Pros: I have the ability to travel to various chemical plants within Clean Harbors organization and work with a team on solving various issues for any/all plants.
Cons: I feel underpaid for my position, and recently with company losses we have lost some perks (bonuses, stock plan, etc.)

Not What I Expected.
Chemical Engineer:
What you do as an Engineer has little to do with what you learn about in school in order to get a degree in Engineering. Almost everything you learn to do in school is done by computers. What you learn in school gives you the insight necessary to recognize when the computer output is wrong or right. You actually learn to be an Engineer while working on assignments given to you by your supervisor. In school you learn about theories, do calculations, and solve detailed problems. In the real world you apply the theories, interpret the results of calculations and solve larger more complex problems, most often ones that will affect people’s lives and not just a grade on your transcript.
