Lessons Learned from a Career in the Refinery Industry.
Chemical Engineer:
1) Life is not fair, and performance reviews are not fair. 2) Do more than is expected in less time. 3) No one can take education away from you. 4) Minimize conflict, don't allow anyone to steal your joy. 5) In time, bad managers are moved to "On Assignment" roles. 6) Be positive and encouraging to your peers and managers, even in difficult times. 7) Know your priorities: God, Family, Work. 8) As a Professional Engineer, refuse to sign or authorize actions that are immoral or will injure a community of poor people who live near refinery.

Pros: Corporate culture, work flexibility, rewarding and challenging, safety in mind.
Cons: Corporate culture, uncertainty, multiple direction changes in the last 5 years.
