What is it like working at University of Michigan (U-M)?

Excellent benefits, amazing atmosphere, but pay is likely low.
Research Associate (Unspecified Type) in Ann Arbor:
Pros: Feeling like I'm making a difference in the world, being surrounded by like-minded individuals
Cons: Im payed very much below what I should be based on my experience and education
Love What I Do...Hate the Micro-managing.
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) in Ann Arbor:
Pros: Making a difference in people's health and quality of life
Cons: Understaffed
Cardiovascular Technologist in Trenton:
Being a tech here is awful. You do 80% of the work of the nurses get 30% of the pay and benefits because of the union. Management is a joke and there is no room for promotion. Terrible morale and culture.
Respiratory Therapist in Ann Arbor:
This is during the COVID-19 pandemic. I thought the University would treat its Respiratory therapists better. First it was you need to go to the RICU.. OK.., then put your health on the line.. OK, then we’ll take away your raise from you indefinitely.. OK, now we need to take your 401 match! Michigan University is one of the lowest paying RT jobs around. Although the the workload varies it’s reasonable for now, until it isn’t. The prestige is gone for me and others. HR and management have taken their sides and now left us for the wolves. If you’re a new grad, look for employment that takes you to the height you deserve and not just a name.
Ability to influence construction project.
Commissioning Engineer in Ann Arbor:
Pros: Working as a team.
Cons: Restriction on making decisions outside company guidelines.
Rewarding.
Polysomnographic Technologist in Ann Arbor:

Cons: Politics
Exceptional short term entry level option.
Hospital Unit Clerk in Ann Arbor:
Pros: there is an abundance of overtime available, the benefits are great and most of your co-workers are friendly.
Cons: monotonous work, higher level medical staff are impatient, theres nothing challenging, and no real area for growth or promotion.
