Air Traffic Controller in Virginia Beach:
22 Years enlisted, and now a GS. Working Air Traffic Control for the Navy provides a more well rounded work experience than any other branch of service. Then Navy recently implemented Special Salary Rate for GS Air Traffic Controllers.
I love it.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class, Surface Vessels:
Pros: I get a chance to travel the world as well as help people.
Cons: There are a lot of politics and favoritism.
Low Pay - But Steady Work.
Mechanical Engineer:
Pros: Working for the DoD, or any federal agency, offers very good job security. When times are bad economically, federal workers are thankful for their salaries.
Cons: The DoD is saddled with a number of problems, ranging from congressionally mandated bureaucratic burdens, to outdated equipment, to low pay (when compared to private sector).
Stress overshadows Benefits.

Cons: The inherent stress and constant demands with low pay.
