Charter Communications, Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at Charter Communications, Inc.?

No work/life balance at all. Hell.
Sr. Network Engineer in Denver:
Pros: Benefits
Cons: Work/life balance, unrealistic expectations, lack of documentation or conflicting documentation telling you how to do your job
Great Company.
Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Mililani:
Pros: Coworkers are always willing to help, great pay and benefits.
Cons: It's too micromanaged, local management team has control issues.
Could be great. Far from acceptable currently.
Sr. Network Engineer in Austin:
Pros: The people are really nice. Everyone is friendly for the most part. Insurance is pretty good if you have a huge expensive surgery, not very valuable if you are never sick. A lot of growth opportunities and internal openings, you can really forge a career from the ground up if you work hard.
Cons: Pay data is a closed box, you are expressly prohibited from talking about pay with colleagues. Breaking this rule is subject to corrective action. Promotions are wage capped, so if you are in school for a high skill role as a low skill job currently, the biggest adjustment you will receive used to be 20% (may be lower now). A customer care rep making 15.00 an hour can only ever make 18.00 an hour. This is not negotiable, even if you interview and are accepted for a Software Development Engineer role (~$50.00+ an hour by internal average rate). Loyalty to the company has a huge professional opportunity cost and is directly reflected in your salary. Politics are prioritized over progress. Every time. Extremely regressive work from home and dress code policies.
Maintenance Technician in Raleigh:
Upper management is unaware of what needs to happen in a day to day setting. No clear or concise direction. Benefits are good, and compensation is tolerable. The morale among the employee base has suffered since Charter has taken over and the customer satisfaction seems to have changed as well.
A lot of work for little pay.
News Anchor in New York:
Pros: The people I work with on a daily basis are great. For the most part, people go above and beyond to help you out so everyone succeeds.
Cons: There's virtually zero communication from management about changes. Entire departments will come and go with no word from our leaders until after the fact. This fosters an environment of mistrust and encourages the rumor mill to run rampant.
Great Job.
Senior Sales Engineer in Cleveland:
Pros: Great internal border partner support. The job is rewarding as you get to engage and support customers directly.
Cons: The upward opportunity very limited
Never a dull moment.
Business Analyst, Finance/Banking in Mililani:
Pros: Various opportunities
Cons: Constant change. It's great because I always get to learn something new but it can be a little exhausting at times. Just when you master your job, everything takes a turn and you start from scratch.
