What is it like working at IBM Global Services?

It was satisfying before the company became dominated by PMs.

Pros: I loved the teamwork throughout IBM before they started punishing you if you assisted other ibmers without a claim code to charge your time.
Cons: What i stated above about teamwork punishment and the bell shaped curve appraisal system.
Opens doors to many great technologies.

Pros: They are willing to let me do my job in any way I prefer provided the work gets done to expectations. As long as I am present for critical meetings [most the time determined by myself] I can choose my hours & I also have access to a multitude of learning platforms.
Cons: The business can foster an unspoken culture of overwork. They expect a lot of most technical staff & while executive management will give lip service about not working more than the set 40 hours, they also don't do anything about the project managers scheduling work in such a way that you'll have to work weekends to complete everything. You're also expected to constantly gain certifications in the latest buzzword tool & in all likelihood, you'll never use it, either because it's actually not the best for the solution, or because you'll never get the approval to pay for the licensing cost.
