Pros: The small team overseeing the Service Desk at the Master's College has a way of solving things with great amounts of communication. Knowledgeable staff helps to keep the pressure down greatly. All are seeking to improve current systems instead of simply firefighting issues.
Cons: Sometimes seasons of increased volumes of tickets that can be expected are still not adequately prepared for. This creates a high-stress environment where certain issues can be avoided. This is something that has been changing for the better recently, however.

Career Path.
Support Analyst, Information Technology (IT):
The job should be a transitional one that allows you to learn the systems at a company, but lead to eventually working in either Network Engineering or Systems Engineering. Also, learn to script. It will become a priceless skill as you automate via scripting most of job, so you can manage it better.

Pros: I know the product and can train users & troubleshoot in my sleep. Lenient with dress/hair code.
Cons: Lack of consistency, lack of seniority, lack of respect for what's done/said to keep clients.
