Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc.?

Sink or swim, exceptional learning opportunities.
Electrical Engineer in Olathe:
Pros: Freedom to tackle problems, no micromanaging
Cons: Endless deadlines, work is never ending and can feel like a rush every week.
Top of my game.
Driller in San Diego:
Pros: Management recognizes your worth and your skills you bring to the table
Cons: Micromanaging
Best place to learn.
Carpenter Apprentice in Boise:
Pros: The opportunities that they allow, as long as you are willing to put the time and work in they will give you all the time and power to make you better. and most importantly OVERTIME everyday
Cons: Not knowing if we are working saturdays until Friday at 3:30
Good pay, but expect to not have a life.
Survey Technician in Tempe:
Pros: Pay, Learning opportunities, company culture
Cons: unwilling to budge on flexible hours, forced relocation, "just do it" attitude despite the risks
Kiewit.
Mechanical Engineer in Lenexa:
Pros: If you are a company man, Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc. treats employees very well with opportunity for advancement.
Cons: Swimming against the flow of a toxic work environment (off the clock work, late/early meetings, etc.) gets you a bad label.
Field Engineer in Toledo:
Look, they're a huge company and it feels like you are a faceless name. The pay was good but you were expected to work long hours for it. Really nice people though where I worked which was in Fed way at the estimating office and the Vancouver office for Bridge and Marine.
District/ Market Segment Makes a difference.
Business Manager in Franklin:
Pros: The broad array of tasks and projects keeps you interested at work. Usually doing a different task every day and doesn't get as repetitive.
Cons: Districts make a difference. Other districts are well run and don't run into as many issues on their projects. My district (water) was a new market for Kiewit and had not caught up to speed yet. Thus making many people's jobs extremely difficult.
