United Way Reviews

What is it like working at United Way?

Wonderful culture.
Chief Communications Officer in Washington:
Pros: The culture and work-life balance is amazing- there is flexibility and a great mission
Cons: financial instability
Fulfilling and great environment.
Program Manager, Non-Profit Organization in Los Angeles:
Pros: I get to make my own schedule, manage my own program and have plenty of face-time with the boss. We're each valued and appreciated, feedback is welcomed and taken into consideration, and my managers have all trusted me from the start.
Cons: The only thing I regret is not negotiating my salary when they offered me the job. With a masters and (about to get a certification) I think I could be earning more. The pay is slightly under what I wanted.
Lack of transparency relationship between employer & employee. Employees do not get credit or recognition for going beyond their job descriptions, event a simple '' thank you, great job''!
Marketing Communications Coordinator in Johannesburg:
Pros: I like my job in terms of the job description and loving what I do, I just think the kind of people I work with do not uplift my spirit
Cons: Fact that I'm still treated like a child. Everyone treats me like their personal assistant just because I went out of my way once, it becomes a permanent thing. For example, Admin has now become part of my job which m not getting paid for
It's a lot of work but so worth it.
Finance & Administration Manager in Gastonia:
Pros: Knowing I help make our community a better place.
Cons: Sometimes it can get stressful.
Fast paced.
Administrative Coordinator in Toledo:
Pros: I can work at my own pace
Cons: Volun-told duties
Turbulent.
Data Analyst in Toledo:
Pros: At times I am given autonomy and fairly promoted to properly enforce ideas and processes to make lasting and impactful changes in my organization and in the community.
Cons: Very little consistency and new leadership does not communicate well or have any operational capacity.
Rewarding.
Marketing Coordinator in Red Deer:
Pros: creative expression for the organization and our community
Cons: structure is undefined and roles are unclear
