What is it like working as a Tutor?

January 2015
Flexi-hours, problem solving, but beware of employers.
Tutor:
Pros: Flexible hours and great pay for a part-time job that you can squeeze in between your other commitments. Also if you enjoy interacting with people, challenging yourself, learning and problem solving this job fulfills those needs.
Cons: Sometimes private individuals who contract you can fail to honour their payment agreement. It helps to be contracted out by a tutoring company who takes care of people who don't pay you - but on the other hand the tutoring companies sometimes badly undercut you. You also don't get reimbursed for travel expenses so you must pick jobs that are convenient to you.
