Cons: There are too many things to list that’s why am on this website mainly as with most Maryland hospitals they only seem to care about the circulating nurse not the surgical techs we are the ones doing all the hard work we’re standing the whole time we’re risking getting struck by needles or splashed were retracting or suctioning were the ones actively working the case there during computer paperwork but they get the retention bonuses they get the raises every six months they get whatever they want and they already make way more than we do and if you ask them what sutures do we need for a case they don’t have a clue they rely on us

Surgical Technologist:
I work at the VA because I love my veterans. Unfortunately the pay for a Surgical Technologist in the New England area is 23% lower than the private sector. They could do better at hiring a more diverse population that represents the area. Benefits are good - Blue Cross & Blue Shield.
