Staff Scientist Reviews

What is it like working as a Staff Scientist?

March 2020
Culture change needed ASAP.
Staff Scientist in Kansas City:
Pros: Great co-workers, really some of the best. Good first or transitional job.
Cons: Ceva has a way of succeeding despite it's best efforts otherwise. Expect and demand the best with only give back the least. No career path. The company is reluctant to advance from within. A lot of inter-group fighting, everyone has a tribe. No feeling of loyalty from management Feeling like the work you does not matter to anyone other than stock holders.

Important Skills To Have.
Staff Scientist:
I have found that there are 2 kinds of skills, soft skills and hard skills. Soft skills are interpersonal skills like active listening, defuse arguments with timing, instructions and polite, concise language, and positive socializing with others. I think the most important skills are soft skills. For the work that I do or for any other field of work I strongly feel that having an edifying and uplifting personality and behavior is most important. I have found that contentious personalities and behavior create an atmosphere in the workplace that is stifling, oppressive and make it difficult to perform work/tasks well. In my opinion, most job specific skills are learned on the job by doing them.
