Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care Reviews
What is it like working as a Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care?
September 2023
Stressful.
Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care in Birmingham:
Pros: The satisfaction of patient care. Being able to connect with parents of newborns. Critical care and critical thinking. Lots of learning opportunities. My coworkers are my family.
Cons: Under appreciated. Underpaid with lots of expectations in the role I have. New grad pay is higher than those with experience. No adjustment is made based off of surrounding hospitals or mean of living and competitive pay in Birmingham metro area.
May 2023
Tiring.
Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care in Charlotte:
Pros: My teammates
Cons: Not having working equipment, or appropriate equipment, not having supplies to adequately take care of patients. Biggest complaint would be the lack of staff and retention of hospital staff with an influx of traveler nursing.

Critical thinking.
Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care in Durban:
Pros: Being of service to critical ill patients
Cons: Been teated unfairly. My efforts go unnoticed

Well supported.
Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care in Los Angeles:

Cons: The nursing scope is limited compared to my previous positions
January 2023
A wonderful place to work.
Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care in Knoxville:
Pros: Critical care floors are well organized.
Cons: Very low salary transparency, but improving. Very high staffing ratios.
November 2022
Terrible.
Registered Nurse (RN), Critical Care in Bossier City:
Pros: The other nurses I work with. However they prey on your loyalty to your nurses. Example. You aren’t paid for your lunch break, but they say it’s your fault if you don’t take one because another nurse will cover your patients. They know a nurse isn’t going to leave a fellow nurse in that position to take on like 8 patients. So there you are working for free for 30 min. And even if we were to clock out and clock that we didn’t take a lunch, our manager would go in and change it to show we took a lunch. It’s stealing, they know it and don’t care.
Cons: They take advantage of nurses….
