August 2019
Quality Engineer, Medical Devices in Fort Collins:
Nordson's pay scale is at the bottom of the barrel; they refuse to disclose your pay range and where you fit in it. The performance reviews are based upon unattainable goals and popularity; these are used as weapons against promotion if an employee is unpopular and Human resources actively force managers to change their reviews to fit the narrative on someone they want to promote or demote. In a nutshell, it's not based on the actual performance of your duties and responsibilities only popularity.
The subsequent merit raises are heavily weighted to get the max 5%. This percentage is deducted from the rest of the departments raise potential as there can be only one all-star player on the team. Quality is under-staffed, and when new positions are opened, they are filled with people with no experience, quality background, or training, this is especially true with — Upper-Quality executive roles in quality. Quality culture is severely lacking the only thing that matters is profit. This lack of skilled personnel leads to true quality professionals taking on huge workloads above and beyond that are not recognized and are considered part of the job. I would recommend anyone considering a quality position at Nordson to bargain for maximum compensation as you will not progress unless promoted to another title within a few years.
