Prepress Technician or Worker Reviews
What is it like working as a Prepress Technician or Worker?
August 2021
Very stressful at times.
Prepress Technician or Worker in Woodinville:
Pros: Most of people I work with and the work itself.
Cons: The huge workload and the loss of the small company feeling, as we were recently bought out by this corporation.
June 2020
An honest review of what I dont know.
Prepress Technician or Worker in Chicopee:
Pros: work flow is simple and easy to follow
Cons: how quickly orders get changed around.
December 2019
Prepress Technician or Worker in Salina:
Pros: Gatehouse only just recently took over Gannett and took their name (likely because 'Gatehouse' was already tainted with fairly bad press), so my experience is with the company formerly known as Gatehouse.
They are a typical capitalistic cutthroat company that absolutely cares more about the bottom line than its workers or its product. They do the same thing over and over again: Take over a publication, lay off half the employees or more, and expect the end result to be just as good as before. They try and achieve this by doing away with much of the content in the papers and moving towards unifying different aspects. All their Kansas properties now use generic 'Great Plains' pages for Kansas news, rather than perspectives unique to the areas in which the publications reside. All of their papers are looking more and more the same. Nearly interchangeable excepting the publication name.
They do introduce efficiencies, and I have witnessed corporate being generous in the past, but there is always that threat under the surface that you are disposable.
Cons: It seems every job has at least one terrible person, and they are often in management positions. I'm used as a punching bag by that person, regardless of the fact that I do more work than they, and as a faceless, nameless money-making machine by corporate. I work with many really good people, but the former two often overshadow any other positive interactions.
November 2019
Multiple Job Titles.
Prepress Technician or Worker in Sheboygan:
Pros: I can schedule my work for the day
Cons: Under appreciated for all the work I do as a female employee
October 2019
Good opportunities for people willing to take them.
Prepress Technician or Worker in Grand Rapids:
Pros: Strong economy and diverse set of opportunities available for all kinds of people.
Cons: High price of car insurance. Lots of jobs require commuting. Low presence of opportunities for creative professionals in visual arts (Illustrators specifically).
May 2019
Prepress Technician or Worker in Minneapolis:
Pros: I love the work I get to do and I love to learn
Cons: Sometimes some of the people but for the most part most people are great.
March 2019
