What is it like working as a Personal / Home Care Aide?

June 2016
Personal / Home Care Aide:
Pros: Very rewarding and no two days are the same.
Cons: Unsociable hours, not enough drive time.
April 2016
Guarantee income vs high responsibility.
Personal / Home Care Aide:
Pros: When I start working, I start with three clients. Some require me to visit them couple hrs during the week and some is 24/7 hrs case, you had to be prepare extra shifts when someone call off. I work 30 hrs only for the week and I take bus to work most of the time and occasionally catch the cabs home if I had to work very long hr shift. Basically, you need to do most of the housekeeping, bathing, making meals, remind to take medicine, and, toileting. Some clients are nice but some are not. Then you just need to be very patient and trying to understanding why they so miserable which is due to their illness. You just need to be very forgiving to them.
Cons: First got my new clients, their behavior are very different. Some client accept you right away and some are reject your help regardness. The most difficult thing to due with is not the job themselves but people unpredictable behavior. It scare me alot when client just get aggresive and angry sometimes. I think the only thing you can do is ask for help from your supervior. You always had to communicate with the nurse from your agency or the client's family. They can show you how they do when client give you difficult time.
