Operations Manager Reviews
What is it like working as an Operations Manager?
February 2015
Operations Manager - Jack of All Trades.
Operations Manager:
Pros: I love mostly everything about my job. I work with a lot of good people. I get to hire people I feel are good for my team. I get to guide people and teach them. I get to put reports together using Excel - my favourite tool ever! People look up to me because I've been with this group the longest and have the most personal knowledge about my portion of the company. I am involved in development and improvements of our site. I have always had a lot of different skills and this job uses a lot of those skills. Truly an enjoyable job that I am very passionate about.
Cons: That I don't have control to make the changes that are necessary to get us to the next level. Development budgets are very tight and often things that seem very important to us and to our customers don't get the priority I wish they did. Other than that, I am quite content with my job.

#1 - you have to define you and the JOB 2 different people.
#2 - don't treat people like a number, but don't let them treat you like you are dirt under their shoes either.
