Office Manager, Medical Office Reviews

What is it like working as an Office Manager, Medical Office?

November 2017
Office Manager, Medical Office in Moorestown:
Pros: I'm busy. I like being busy. This is a small but busy office. I am the chiropractic assistant, office manager, receptionist, billing/claims dept., accounting, cleaning, human resources and also do personal accounting work for the Dr. I am very busy all day.
Cons: I have a lot of duties and don't get a paid vacation. I can take one, but not paid. I can't really call out sick because the only other employee is the evening receptionist. There would be no one to fill in for me.

CAREER JOB.
Office Manager, Medical Office:
Always be honest with the employees and what you want them to accomplish. Allow them to believe that they can and will be trained to be able to run an office independently to better grow as an employee and become more valuable to an employer. I started off as a receptionist just answering phone calls and putting patients in rooms. Now I not only put patients in rooms and answer phone calls but now I do prior authorizations, call in prescriptions, input patient demographics, do transciption, billing and coding, scan documents, file charts, set rooms up, assist doctor with patients, deposits, invoices, and run an entire office all on my own during office hours. Just believing in my self and having a positive attitude will get you to succeed.

Self Worth.
Office Manager, Medical Office:
Pros: The owner is very respectful, professional, goofy and flexible. He's very "nice" and will help you if you ask. The trust he has given me has made me even more humble then before I started this job and he keeps me in check and on my toes. I have learned so much since I started this job and continue to learn more everyday.
Cons: The downfall to this job is the hours, which I have no problem with, however, due to the amount of hours I work and when you break that down to an hourly pay - I usually get paid right at or below minimum wage. What upsets me is that if the other employees got paid full time, they all would be making a lot more than me and based on what I do for work, how much I work and always being on call basis, I feel that I'm getting under paid severely. I hate to sound greedy, but money makes the world go round unfortunately and I have a son to raise and my 73 year old grandparent's are helping me. If not for them, I wouldn't be able to raise my son. Time is not guaranteed and at any point they could go... I would be royally screwed if that happened. I'm finally growing up, trying to start a career so that I can be independent from anyone. I just need help financially and I feel that I'm working and growing constantly to ask for a raise. Doc not being around to see the BS I deal with.
