Medical Receptionist Reviews
What is it like working as a Medical Receptionist?
July 2016
Helping people schedule appointments.
Medical Receptionist:
Pros: The scheduler is at the center of the universe in my office. Everything revolves around my job. I interact with new patients and existing patients daily. I work to coordinate the schedules for all doctors. I communicate with doctors daily making them aware of changes in their schedules.
Cons: I am the first point of contact and some patients are demanding, pushy and require special accommodations. It can be difficult to make them happy.

Confront the Stress in your job Head On!
Medical Receptionist:
Be calm. If someone raises their voice with you or disagrees and gets angry with you, put yourself in their position and calm them down. Once they are thinking more clearly, try to break it down for them one step at a time and tell them how they can overcome the problem if you have any suggestions such as calling their insurance to ask why they covered it the way they did. That way it comes straight from the professional who has the source of the knowledge since we are simply just the middle man doing our job. Things can always be worked out and recognize quickly how management treats their employees. After trying everything you can do and it doesn't change or resolve the matter, address it with management. If their response is in a way that respects their employee and tries to resolve the matter professionally, you will know to give it another chance. If not, your better off somewhere else. Trust when you know something is wrong or if you have questions to simply just ask.
