Mechanical Engineer Reviews
What is it like working as a Mechanical Engineer?
January 2017
Doesn't seem like a company that wants to commit to you.
Mechanical Engineer in Hillsboro:
Pros: There is a lot of good experience to be gained from the work they do. Learning how to work with Intel is huge and can open doors to a lot of other jobs.
Cons: There is a lot of turnover and it doesn't feel like a company that cares about keeping employees that much. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you're looking for a company to grow with and stay with for 10+ years, it's probably not the company to be working for.

Ask questions.

Learn as much as you can. No question is a stupid question.

September 2016
Stay current, know everything.
Mechanical Engineer:
There is virtually no such thing as a purely mechanical device anymore. You must know electricity, electronics, power, controls, batteries, etc. You must master materials and processes. You must know something about thermal management. You must know something about optics, imaging and lighting. You must be aware of quality control and inspection. You must be communicative, out-front, cordial, persuasive and confident.
September 2016
Fun work with complete autonomy.
Mechanical Engineer:
Pros: Autonomy, little bureaucracy, flat hierarchy, interesting work, diverse roles, great benefits, workplace transparency, paid time off, friendly and smart coworkers, paid overtime, relaxed atmosphere, potentially high profit sharing, personal use of all facilities and tools.
Cons: Low base salary, eccentric CEO, occasional long term travel with OT, little official training or mentoring, huge lack of diversity, little upward mobility due to flat hierarchy.
