Maintenance Director:
Know your skills, and know your worth.
January 2014
Director Of Aircraft Maintenance.
Maintenance Director:
Pros: Being an aircraft maintenance director has a high degree of stress but is also a very rewarding career for certain individuals. High level responsibility and experience is required to make day today decisions that may impact our traveling public. This job is certainly not for everyone.
Cons: Aircraft maintenance can be a thank-less job. We are seen as the necessary evil in a small company by the owners. We are most time giving bad news that the aircraft is broken and there is a cost to repair. Our repairs are dictated by the aircraft manufacture or transport Canada to be carried out accordingly. This is not always what the owner wants as it must be right for the engineer prior to further flight. This is to ensure safety for the traveling public.
