MDS Coordinator Reviews

What is it like working as an MDS Coordinator?

April 2019
MDS Coordinator in Naperville:
Pros: My coworkers, and our residents. The facility owner is very generous. I have been allowed to work at sister facility as consultant several times.
Cons: Our company has just been sold. As of May1, we are ALL new hires.

A lot of Hats.
MDS Coordinator in Brookfield:
Pros: The residents and people I work for and with. My employment here has also fit my complicated life situation as well.
Cons: The lack of communication and more than that, accountability. There are employees that do not fulfill their job duties as they should and there are others who do more than what their job description asks for. The latter is often due to tasks being given to other staff for the staff who is not doing it or doing it satisfactorily. After that one thing I don't like, I also don't like getting treated like I don't do anything to help the "team". There are many things that I am supposed to have the "team" for to do my job as legally required that I am forced to have to do myself on top of doing things that other departments should do and occasionally being pulled away from my work to help CNAs get the residents taken care of if necessary.

A lot of Hats.
MDS Coordinator in Brookfield:
Pros: Being able to still interact with the residents and to educate staff on what I do to make sense of why I ask so many questions regarding documentation and what needs to be done or changed with documentation.
Cons: Getting tasks to do that are the responsibility of someone else in a different department in addition to all of what goes into gathering information, confirming the accuracy of that information, following up with staff who chart inaccurately to, hopefully, deter them from doing the same mistakes, and documenting everything I do or don't do with each MDS assessment so that I more than likely won't go to prison should I get audited.
