Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Reviews

What is it like working as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)?

Being a good nurse requires an open mind.
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN):
Verify every order, question any physician order that does not seem appropriate. Request orders for non-pharmaceutical interventions when appropriate. Long term care patients frequently take medications that may be medically unnecessary due to miscommunication between nursing staff and physicians.

Love being a nurse.
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN):
Pros: Helping patients, making a difference in patients lives.
Cons: Miles away from home, rotating schedule.
June 2016
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN):
Pros: Helping patients and families find comfort and acceptance of their or their loved one's terminal illness at the end of their life. It is challenging, and rewarding, and definitely a calling.
Cons: The Politics, workplace bullying, & bureaucracy really make my work and home life difficult, and complicated, and have put me off of the profession. I deal every day with people who are going through possibly the worst time in their lives. My job is difficult enough, without having to put up with people who sit in an office all day, and have nothing better to do than to harass others, and complicate the simple act of extending your love to others.
