Licensed Professional Counselor Reviews

What is it like working as a Licensed Professional Counselor?

January 2019
Licensed Professional Counselor:
You will learn a lot about how managed health care works and be in a position to help your members. You will work on a team, and my team members were the best. Unless you are a Community Connector at Moilna, you will not have much face to face experience with your members. If direct patient care is what you seek, this is not the place for you. Molina does a great job of investing in their employees through continual training, tuition reimbursement, paid time off to attend conferences, and free CEUs for Social Workers. Their benefits are not as good as they were when I initially started, but they are still better than most companies at which I worked. You will work exactly 40 hours per week; over time is discouraged. You get to wear jeans and tennis shoes to work every day. There is.a gym onsite and a cafe with reasonably priced food. Working at Molina was like working with family. I truly enjoyed my time there and left only for an opportunity for advancement. There are plenty of opportunities for advancement at Molina, but they are more geared to RNs and Social Workers. Molina also has a great walking path that I walked on frequently during my two 15 minute breaks each day. I'm very grateful I had the opportunity to work at Molina and would consider returning if the right opportunity presented itself.

Self care.
Licensed Professional Counselor in Macon:
It is very important as a therapist to obtain self care, taking time off to care for yourself and family, doing fun things as hearing about other people's trauma and issues can be stressful. It's so important to do self care in this job.

Over Qualified.
Licensed Professional Counselor in Tucson:
Working as a licensed professional counselor in the capacity of social work can be defeating. Rather than focusing on mental health, the job mostly entails administrative work.
