Project Management.
Human Resources (HR) Officer:
Working in Human Resources, specifically in Recruitment, requires strong project management skills. Basically, you are working on several projects (hiring for different positions), all at the same time, with a number of steps and very strict deadlines. I personally, work well in this type of atmosphere but it isn't for everyone. Lots of deadlines and managers wanting things all at the same time. When I started I didn't realize it would be like this.

Human Resources (HR) Officer:
Undertake your Certificate in Personnel Practice if you are starting at a base assistant level with aspirations to move on to a HR Officer role and beyond. It gives a good base.
When starting in a HR team, work out where your strengths lie and what area you enjoy where you may wish to focus in, or whether, like myself, you prefer the variety of a generalist role. Opportunity may also depend on the size of the team/organisation you work for.
You need to work hard, enjoy working with people and be able to cope with a fast paced demanding environment.
