Graphic Designer:
To many promises made with clients, job management is beyond control of workers.

Work Flexibility.

Pros: A new task every day, new clients trying to keep them.
Cons: My salary does not make up for the fact that I am responsible for the pre press.

Graphic Designer:
Pros: It's in a creative field. The people I work with are great. Great atmosphere. Long lunch break. I have the equipment I need to perform well.
Cons: Lack of flexible work hours. Lack of training. No medical aid. I am the only graphic designer so their is a lack of understanding of what I do.

Knowing additional skills.
Graphic Designer:
Its always better to know additional skills more that Photoshop and coreldraw.

Never Take It Personally But ALWAYS Accept Criticism!
Graphic Designer:
Do not become attached to the things you design for anyone other than yourself. Your responsibility is to problem solve, make messaging clear and easy to read. If your design does those things and your client wants to muddy it up, explain why you made your design decisions, and explain why their changes may not work. If they still want the changes after that, make the changes they want, but find the time to make an alternate version of their change request that does the job more successfully.
Generally, if you are thoughtfully designing, they will eventually see your point.
Also, if they still just want it their way: do an informal poll of other folks to determine which communicates the message most coherently.

Stimulating.
Graphic Designer:
Pros: I like that I get to pursue different types of projects when they arise, not only graphic design specific.
Cons: Compensation, management decisions.

Work hard, develop a good folio in school, promote yourself and have confidence in your talents and abilities, take chances, experiment and challenge yourself creatively outside of work.
