Executive Assistant Reviews
What is it like working as an Executive Assistant?
February 2016
Power and autonomy.
Executive Assistant:
Pros: You have a lot of autonomy to get things done and if you have a good relationship with your boss you can benefit from this.
Cons: Many times people will think that the EA is an admin to everyone on the team which is not always the case.

Work Life.
Executive Assistant:
Pros: My current job situation is quite flexible. We both allow ourselves to get a lot done in our personal time. Work that needs to be done comes in waves and I feel like I can & do finish it quickly and with ease. I like that I can dress casual and there are no office politics. I like that the office is located downtown and I can easily get to work and have a parking spot here. I like that I am trusted.
Cons: I am not being challenged. I hate that I only work with one person and have almost zero contact with the outside world 38 out of the 40 hours in a week. I do not like that I am not moving up, we are not actively seeking new clients, and that the work has become one-sided. I would like to be given more responsibility and be held accountable so I feel the need to work.

Executive Assistant:
Always be prepared to work, be flexible, and adapt to change. Knowing your supervisor and anticipating questions will allow you to plan properly. An example would be if you know that your supervisor does not like to meet after 4 pm, do not schedule any meetings at that time without their approval.
