Make sure you do your research first in terms of job outlook, salary, and the top schools to go to get the best education and training. You have to be a people person to enjoy this profession. It is satisfying to help people feel better about themselves. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep a smile on your face when you are stressed out or having a bad day. You have to be energetic to be able to work in a fast paced work environment. To be successful in the beauty industry, not only do you have to be highly qualified to perform services, you have to possess communication skills, listening skills and customer service skills. Of course looking presentable and practicing good hygiene are very essential as well. Clients look for those qualities in an Esthetician. Time management and having a positive attitude is a must.

Pros: Passionate about what I do, love all the services and seeing a guest walking out with confidence.
Cons: Working weekends, working with chemicals and night time closing chores, long commute to work. Physically demanding, low pay.
