Environmental Engineer Reviews
What is it like working as an Environmental Engineer?
October 2015
Interesting work, but not much actual engineering.
Environmental Engineer:
Pros: As a consultant, I get a lot of variety. I work on several projects at a time, and my tasks/role within the projects is always changing. The work is interesting, and I feel good about doing environmental work. Environmental consulting is also a good balance between technical work (i.e. Data analysis), technical writing, and interpersonal interactions (with colleagues and clients).
Cons: As a junior staff member, I don't get to do a lot of the really exciting decision making or data analysis. I kind of get the data or report ready for senior staff, who then get to decide how we will handle the given problem. In general, environmental consulting does not offer a lot of opportunity for engineering design or "real" engineering work. I don't feel like I use most of the knowledge and skills I learned in school. Writing skills, people/management skills, and attention to detail are all much more important than technical prowess, at least at the junior level.
September 2015
My experience in Steel plant.
Environmental Engineer:
Pros: In environmental field I learnt to deal with various problems which is most challenging with respect to control of air pollution, recycling of waste into the cycle thus solving waste disposal problems. I learnt to manage 19 number of workers which boosted my confidence in becoming a manager.
Cons: 1 day week off I.e working 6days a week is the one which I don like.

Environmental Engineer:
Environmental stewardship involves understanding the regulations and technological ways that companies can exceed the regulatory limits while still being profitable. This requires not only being detailed oriented, but creative and innovative.
