Design Engineer Reviews

What is it like working as a Design Engineer?

December 2014
Challenging work with a good work/life balance.
Design Engineer:
Pros: Paid training (e.g: ASME BPV codes, transient analysis, lean six sigma) Great work/life balance: they're understanding of coming in later, no need to "punch the clock" at 8 am everyday. Open to constant improvement; no need to hide your problems; it's encouraged to raise the issues. Good pay.
Cons: Communication could be better between some groups. It's a large company so it's easy to get confused on some projects. Work computers could be better, a bit slow and frustrating at points.
December 2014
Design Engineer:
Pros: Corporate culture, design exposure,
Cons: Work pressure, stress.
December 2014
Design Engineer:
Pros: Lots of areas being able to focus in and implement major projects. Being able to work directly with customers and outside resources. Never a boring day on the shop floor.
Cons: Very hard to hard with some older workers partically if in the union.
September 2014
The PCB Manufacturing Is A Very Unstable Industry.
Design Engineer:
Highly stressful environment due to unstable sales and production levels. Do not recommend working for a company that is owned by it's own Management or privately held. Highly recommend researching company history for salaried employees and hiring/layoff trends.
September 2014
Interesting And Challenging.
Design Engineer:
Pros: New projects every time. Every day is different. Good ambient of work and nice environment.
August 2014
The Work Environment Is Dynamic And Satisfying.
Design Engineer:
Pros: I get to work on interesting projects with state of the art technology. I get to explore the industry for products to help improve the manufacturing process. I get to build and test my own ideas against real conditions.
Cons: Very little mentor-ship/guidance. Not competitive enough.
