Community Support Worker in Dobson:
Pros: What I like most is working with our clients. For me, it is an enjoyable, interesting, and fulfilling job. Generally, my co-workers are caring and affable people who will go above and beyond to help our clients. Our direct management really tries to help staff.
Cons: The work is very fulfilling but the 'red tape' behind the scenes makes the position more stressful. I and my co-workers work hard and do a job many people would not do and we do not mind doing that job. However, we are underpaid and underappreciated by upper management. We have been told we would receive a raise and have been put off over and over again. Many of us feel that we will be cheated out of the raise we have been promised-but we are still hoping. Many workers have to provide transportation for clients. No mileage is paid and the worker has to use their own car. The response is that this is a service provided by the corporation. But it is really provided by the worker with no compensation. Yet, upper management drives a company car. It seems there is a lot of discrepency between what upper management feels they are entitled to receive and what those of us 'on the ground' should receive or even expect to receive.
