Chief Engineer Reviews
What is it like working as a Chief Engineer?
June 2022
Each day can pose a new challenge.
Chief Engineer in Dayton:
Pros: Solving technical problems
Cons: Dealing with supplier and our own quality problems.
April 2022
I have a lot of opportunity to deal directly with all departments, maintain the building and property and the general manager is my direct boss. This has been the best part for me; being able to learn from him and even he from me.
Chief Engineer in Houston:
Pros: I have been able to learn and work in almost every deparment or job. I have been the night auditor, security, chief engineer, housekeeping, cook for our full, hot breakfast, customer relations and crisis management, having high standards and achieving them. I would like to be toward my goal of GM but even though I have excelled and received the Manager of the Year I am not sure if I am being fully supported.
Cons: Upper management and Corporate have too much control. Any decisions whether financial or even daily things are approved or not by Management that are sometimes unaware of the best thing for our hotel. They also have other hotels that it is obvious they give special treatment toward. I find this inappropriate. I also think since they are so large a company, they tend to keep the employees on the same playing field and don't really cultivate and promote and give the ones who are the best very much incentive to sustain what it takes to be on top.
