April 2014
Different.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC):
Pros: Since I work in the field of psychiatry, I see many different doctor's notes. Everything billed is almost always unique. I have grown professionally learning how different insurance providers handle this specific medical field.
Cons: The electronic health record, although it has improved the medical world in many ways, it also has cons in the sense of abuse. It makes it very easy for doctors to code or bill incorrectly. Most doctors do not like the new system and will constantly fight with it. Hopefully in the future this will change and doctors will become more acceptable of a great program.
