Automotive Technician Reviews

What is it like working as an Automotive Technician?

February 2015
Paper work.
Automotive Technician:
Great profession.
January 2015
Thorough, Quality Performance.
Automotive Technician:
Pros: My favorite part of my job has to be the times that I find problems with a customer's vehicle that others have overlooked. Small problems can have large, long-term consequences.
Cons: Worst part/parts of my job: Long hours without breaks(literally no 15 minute breaks, no 30 minute lunch over a 10 hour shift), which can add to the stress of being extremely busy every single day. And with an hourly pay rate ten cents above minimum wage with no overtime(strict 40 hour work week), this job is possibly worse than a fast food job in many ways.
January 2015
Euro cars.
Automotive Technician:
Its something I would use as a stepping stone for something better, its honestly hard on your body and will make you hate working on cars, and isnt that that reason you started?
January 2015
Typical corporation.
Automotive Technician:
Cons: Regular pay cuts, no paid benefits, bonuses only for sales people and management.
December 2014
Automotive Technician advice from one who knows.
Automotive Technician:
This career path may make you lose your passion for Cars/Trucks. Don't assume that you will get paid what you expect. Expect to get dirty. Expect to get hurt. Think about all of the toxic fumes and chemicals you will be exposed to. Think about noise. When I was starting out, the noise didn't bother me. Even with hearing protection, the noise is very distracting and annoying. Tools and tool boxes are incredibly expensive. This fact will definitely take $500-$2000 + off of your yearly income.
October 2014
Firestone.
Automotive Technician:
Pros: Training and good people.
Cons: You work every weekend and have no life.
October 2014
Don't be a auto mechanic.
Automotive Technician:
Auto mechanics get paid less every year.
