May 2022
Meaningful work in a tough market.
Assistant Director of Admissions (College/University) in Des Moines:
Pros: I can connect my work with making a difference in the lives of others. It's fulfulling to work with refugees and first generation students who didn't think higher education was possible for them. I also enjoy working with my colleagues and my boss gives me flexibility in my schedule when it's needed.
Cons: There's a lack of communication between Asst. Directors, Directors and VPs. I feel that there is complacency on the part of my employer when it comes to competitive pay and reviewing new/better ways to work. There's a strong 'business as usual' mentality instead of having open dialogue and consideration for new ideas.
March 2021

January 2019

Most people are great; however there are pockets of dysfunction to watch out for.
