What is it like working as an Architectural Technologist?

Experience.
Architectural Technologist:
Pros: The interaction and collaboration with co-workers, the experience gained from the partners at the firm and contractors / sub-contractors on site.
Cons: Partners don't seem to know the amount of effort and time you put into a project. They expect you to put work over anything else. One of the partners has no patience, he thinks his way is the only way to do things, isn't open to anything new or different.

Consistency Is The Key To Success.
Architectural Technologist:
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Do not over work yourself, plan the route you take in advance and do not leave it for the last moment. You will not stress if you are well prepared. Make a list of items that you need to get done, work according to your closest deadline then tick it off when your done.

Practical Experience.
Architectural Technologist:
Try to get practical experience prior to finishing school. It will better prepare and inform you about where your strengths lie and what aspects of your studies you might concentrate on. Learn to draw by hand. I know that may sound strange given that our industry calls for computer aided drafting skills, but having that skill will help in creating quick sketches for discussion and also enable you to understand the character, depth clarity to a drawing.
