Academic Advisor Reviews
What is it like working as an Academic Advisor?
November 2022
It can be stressful but rewarding too.
Academic Advisor in Madison:
Pros: The opportunity to change student lives.
Cons: Lack of resources to accomplish the amount of work and expectations.
June 2022
Mostly Good, Sometimes Challenging, Always Rewarding.
Academic Advisor in Rochester:
Pros: I like the independence and ability to guide my own day based on deadlines, student needs, and important processes (e.g., enrollment, graduation/certification, etc.). I find it most rewarding to work with students and partner with them along their academic journey. Students grow and evolve in their own ways and it makes me feel good to know I can help them understand policies and make decisions that will benefit them in the long-term.
Cons: Much work is put onto the plates of advisors and often all at once.
September 2021
Loving where I'm at, but ready for improvement.
Academic Advisor in Tempe:
Pros: It's exactly where I want to be and my team is great to work with.
Cons: Pretty inflexible for certain policies (flexible schedules).
January 2021

Cons: Raises, promotions, recognition is based on whim and popularity rather than performance and positive contribution
