911 Dispatcher Reviews
What is it like working as a 911 Dispatcher?
February 2014
911 Dispatcher:
Don't get into this field!!! The job is changing for the worse - from even a few years ago. There are products/programs being purchased by agencies in which total personal liability is placed upon dispatchers and less liability being taken by employers (i.e.: the dispatcher can be sued for following the rules and doing their job while the employer takes no responsibility at all - meaning you're on your own if the citizenry takes legal action). Stress levels are increasing and health levels are decreasing in personnel. No perks, decent pay depending on the employer, and really no possible career advancement. This coming from a long time dispatcher having experience in fire, police and EMS with several different agencies.
