Vital Farms Reviews
What is it like working at Vital Farms?
Accountant:
Awful environment, especially for accountants. Chronically under-resourced, overworked, no support; unqualified people in positions of power. Refusal to spend on technology like a functional WMS, so get stuck doing manual, repetitive work with unreliable information. No opportunities for promotion, don't have a proper organizational structure for accounting department. Lousy pay, 3% increase max per year that you're told "is great" all while knowing those making over $100K have different rules and get much higher base pay increases. Such hypocrites. Despite receiving $110+ MILLION dollars for IPO, health insurance costs to employees keep increasing each year. Why they won't pick up this cost to employees is baffling, if they truly cared about their employees. Lots of hot air about "stakeholder model" but truth is they don't value employees at all, and the executives are just trying to get rich themselves (and surprise, they are ALL WHITE MEN). Culture is phony and false, only marketing and sales matter to the company. Accounting is routinely left out of company-wide events, nobody knows you exist and you feel like nobody cares about your work at all. They also have two PTO systems, one for long-time employees that accrue hours while new employees get Unlimited PTO. GROSSLY UNFAIR. Complained about it and was told I get the "exclusive benefit" of being paid-out PTO balance when I leave. Fail to see how a benefit that accrues WHEN I'M LEAVING THE COMPANY is a true benefit. HR
Awful place for Accountants.
Senior Accountant in Austin:
Pros: Company is doing good work and disrupting the old model of agriculture related to eggs. Most people are good, leadership is self-involved.
Cons: Team is overworked, underpaid, unsupported. No organizational structure exists in the accounting department, no titles, no career path. Despite asking months for help, have not received any.
