Varsity Tutors Reviews

What is it like working at Varsity Tutors?

Tutor in Fort Lauderdale:
I really enjoy working with each of the students I am assigned. The students are great and I get to make my own schedule. I do find the company management to be a bit poor. They are hard to get in contact with regarding concerns with clients, payment or scheduling. Their technology often malfunctions and they are sometimes not responsive. I do think that in general, tutors are underpaid for their work, especially given the high cost that parents pay for their kids to get tutoring. However, the company offers chances to earn bonuses for good work and will make offers to teach large classes of students for additional pay which makes the pay rate a little more fair to experienced workers.
Information Systems (IS) Analyst in Seattle:
The Company has a good idea for a product but implementation is almost always rocky for internal projects and internal IT is always viewed as a cost. Several people in leadership think they have the best and only ideas so it can be a challenge to really grow into creating your own area of expertise because you have to follow their ideas/paths only. Some managers are not equipped to be managers, either due to maturity or because of a lack of process so they make up their own and use the lack of the process as an excuse for why something they should be doing, wasn't done.
