Unigroup, Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at Unigroup, Inc.?

Challenging.
Trade Show Manager in St. Louis:
Pros: I enjoy planning and executing a project. I enjoy working with current and potential clients.
Cons: The below average salary paid
Personal Growth & Professional Development!!
Software Engineer in Fenton:
Pros: The part that's personally had the biggest impact, is the atmosphere of 'failure is ok.' One of the senior leaders gave a Tech Talk and actually said (paraphrased, em added), "We /are/ software engineers, but this stuff is *hard.* It's absolutely ok to ask for help, or raise your hand and say 'Hey, I made a mistake.' " As someone who's had a rollercoaster couple years with imposter's syndrome, this place is a freaking blessing. I'm part of QDivision, the IT/tech/software 'department' that's well into rebranding and runs like a start up. Discussions often pop up in various Slack channels, where opposing views are invited and respectfully debated. There's a huge culture of learning here. We finished a machine learning study group in December, and have two upcoming for data science and finance-related machine learning. Teams are self-organized, so it quickly feels like you're a valid peer, instead of being new/junior/senior-level. We use the best tools for the job, regardless if we've heard of them or not.
Cons: UniGroup is transforming itself and this is evident in the changes seen in QDivision. This is a change that grows from the inside out and will take time to be effective, so naturally, not all parts of the company are onboard. That said, this train is full steam ahead, and I feel like I've gotten in on the ground floor. It'll be great to see how things are with another year or two behind us.
