U-Haul International, Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at U-Haul International, Inc.?

Varies by location. Some great, some awful.
Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Carlisle:
Pros: Simple work with a purpose, making the stressful situation of moving just a little easier for folks
Cons: External factors outside of our control determine what equipment is available or not, and isn't very well communicated by upper management
Overworked, underpaid, understaffed, under appreciated.
General Manager in Aberdeen:
Cons: Expected to work 50-60 hours a week but not go over on payroll, even though scheduling a regular 8 hour shift automatically puts you over. Company asks for too much of one persons time and forgets that person has a personal life. Doesn’t compensate to adjust for time spent working. I have worked shifts for free
Working for U-Haul is just okay...
Retail Store Assistant Manager in Providence:
Pros: It's an easy job. Just develop good customer service skills and the drive to master your duty's and you are golden!
Cons: I don't like how as an Assistant Manager, I am being paid the same wage as a CSR. The reasoning is that the CSR was transfered from another store which cannot keep employees for long at minimum wage. Still, as an assistant manager, my wage is only $1.50 more than minimum wage... While I believe the job is easy, it does not mean that it is easy to find a replacement. Eventually, one can be found, but in the time it takes to find or train a new assistant manager, the General Manager's mood is thrown out the window, the work load is doubled, and the work week is up to 45+ hours instead of the 30-40 hours a salaried GM can afford.
General / Operations Manager in Little Rock:
This job is a culture. If you expect to have a 9-5 and coast this company is not for you. It is a constant grind to be better and better. “Do your absolute best” is one of our anthems. We work 55 hours a week on average. We are appreciated for our success in a moment, but are expected to have a plan to grow from there the very next moment. I’ve never had such a fast tracked career growth under any other company. Any problems that come up are yours and you are trusted to fix them with your best judgement. Customers are gold and we treat them that way. Dealers are our friends and community. Without them we fail.
A job that almost feels like work.
Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Saint Albans:
Pros: The ability to work at my own pace and to do a job as i see fit.
Cons: I feel like im payed enough for my effort. But not for my time.
Everyday you learn and interact with people.
Logistics Coordinator in Cape Town:
Pros: when the trucks leave the premises to deliver our customer's products.
Cons: everybody is not a team player.
Assistant Store Manager in Vancouver:
Working atmosphere is really good and everyone work as a team. I am getting benefits from the last one year but my pay scale is the minimum from the day I have joined the company till now which is really hard to survive in Vancouver.
