The University of Mississippi Medical Center Reviews

What is it like working at The University of Mississippi Medical Center?

Under appreciated profession.
Registered Dietitian in Jackson:
Pros: I enjoy working at a teaching hospital. There is a learning environment that is wonderful to inquiring people. The paid holidays plus step-level personal and sick leave earned is awesome. Retirement plan is very good.
Cons: In this organization Dietitians, as a whole, are under appreciated, under-utilized, unrecognized and under paid. Dietitians have no voice and are unrepresented as a discipline in the organization and with administration. There are no steps/grades in title or pay regardless of additional education or years’ experience earned within the system. Over ninety percent of the Dietitians in this organization have the same title and job description regardless of varying job locations (i.e. inpatient/outpatient), job duties, specialized practice and/or specialized knowledge required. From an administrative perspective an entry level Dietitian with a B.S. and no experience will have the same title and job description as a Dietitian with a M.S., Board certification, specialist certification and 20 years’ experience. All this with similar across-the-organization rate increases.
